We’re moving!

As of 25th June 2018, Central Mailing will be operating from our brand new, 45,000 sq. ft super-site at Gravelly Industrial Estate, Birmingham.

Leaving behind our home of 6 years in Kings Norton is difficult, but we will be taking plenty of fond memories with us.

The relocation is a huge step for the business, and we’re delighted to be both moving, and staying based in Birmingham!

Why are we moving?

Rapid growth in recent years means that our home in Kings Norton is no longer big enough to meet our needs. In order to continue providing quality direct mail services, we need to upgrade.

We are fortunate enough to have the unique opportunity to build a home specifically for CMS. Everything from the floorplan to the lightbulbs has been custom designed for us. We have focussed heavily on being both efficient and environmentally friendly, carefully considering every inch of the premises.

It’s safe to say we are excited!

About the New Unit

Our new unit is easily accessible by all forms of transport. Conveniently located less than 3 miles from Birmingham City Centre, 0.6 miles from the M6 and is in close proximity to major train stations and Birmingham Airport.

From this location, we are able to provide a full suite of direct mail services in-house, including data management, print, mail fulfilment, polythene and envelope enclosing, postage and more.

The site spans a total of 45,000 square feet spread across two adjoining units and effectively doubles our total available floor space.

The site is rated A for environmental quality and has been designed to be as environmentally friendly as possible. We have worked to reduce our carbon footprint by installing advanced sensor operated LED lights; intelligent heating; quality insulation and more.

New Unit Upgrades

Office Space
Both our client services and I.T and Bureau departments will be benefiting from upgrades to their offices. Each department is located within its own designated area, with large investments being made into quality-of-life changes for staff. A full suite of new office equipment has been purchased for every department, along with doubling the size of the employee break-out area.

Employees also benefit from access to brand new coffee machines in each of the units.

Print
We have built a custom print room from scratch to streamline our print processes. The new, more dynamic workflow enables us to produce print faster, more accurately and in higher volumes than before.

Storage & Racking
We have made significant investments to our storage capabilities at Gravelly. We can now store over 1300 individual pallets at a time, an increase of over 300 spaces. In addition to this, we have built a custom secure racking area for high-value goods storage and a separate 3,000 sq. ft mezzanine floor with over 70 shelving units.

Production
Our brand new production centre includes dedicated production areas for each of our core services.  This includes; Polywrapping; Enclosing; Folding and Finishing; Booklet Making; Inkjetting; and Hand Fulfilment. We have also set aside additional space for unique orders that require a specialised setup to process, helping us better handle complex mailings.

We are always looking to invest in our plant and technology. After purchasing new Buhrs 1000 polyline we now have 5 poly wrapping lines available and show no signs of slowing down.

Technical
Our new site has a number of custom technical additions. Our IT infrastructure has been strengthened with the purchase of a second HPE ML350 server. This provides a further layer of resilience to our internal operations and external customer-facing systems.

We also purchased additional networking equipment, including managed switches to improve security and provide fault tolerance to our network. We have a fully resilient infrastructure across both of our business units connected with a 16-core fibre cable replicating all internal and external systems, including phone systems. This allows us to continue operation if we suffer a full systems outage in either unit.

What this means for our customers

Great Service Offering
We have invested heavily to improve all areas of our service offering and are capable of handling everything from data, print and personalisation through to fulfilment and postage in-house. We can cleanse upwards of 100,000 data entries every half an hour and we are capable of outputting hundreds of thousands of mail items per day.

Fast Turnaround
With new custom-built work areas we are able to process and produce mail orders faster, more accurately and at a greater volume than ever before. We have invested heavily in plant, processes and technology to provide our customers with the very best levels of service.

Room to Grow
With our new unit comes room to grow. We are able to meet our customers changing needs over time developing lasting relationships. Fully scalable mailing services mean we can help our customers whether they are mailing 1000 items or 1,000,000.

Extra Security
Being located at Gravelly industrial estate has the advantage of  24/7 CCTV, roaming security and manned entry and exit points. In addition to this, our individual unit has been installed with state of the art internal and external CCTV and secure code activated doors.

Environmental Commitments
Last, but certainly not least. Our site at Gravelly Industrial Park is rated A for carbon efficiency. Making us one of the most eco-friendly Mailing Houses in the U.K.

We regularly work with staff to educate them on how they can help reduce carbon emissions at work. Recycling areas are readily available across the site and our environmental policy guides best practice.

The new unit has a number of important features including state of the art sensor activated LED lighting and intelligent heating. We are also easily accessible by public transport and have designated bike racks in place for employees to use.

New Look Central Mailing

As part of the move, we’ve decided to update our company logo and branding. We wanted to implement a change that reflected a cleaner, greener and more modern CMS.

Our building was designed to be environmentally friendly and we wanted to carry these themes forward with our branding too.

We much prefer the new look, and we hope you do too.
