Our Recycling Processes (and responsibilities) as a Mailing House in 2025
Have you ever wondered what happens to the waste at Central Mailing Services, one of the nation’s leading mailing houses?
Spoiler alert: it doesn’t just disappear or go to landfill. We’ve made it our mission to recycle every possible material, and we are proud of what we’ve achieved as a responsible mailing house. So, let’s dive into the world of waste management, CMS style.
We don’t just throw things away; we sort like champions. Every piece of waste is separated into five main recycling groups:
Ensuring Recycling is Standardised, Company Wide
To make recycling a breeze, we’ve set up colour-coded bins all over our offices, operations, and canteen. It’s simple: our staff just have to match their waste to the right bin, and they’re officially playing their part in our journey further towards eco-friendliness.
Small Changes, Big Impact
Over a year ago, we ran a recycling test in our operations department. It worked so well that we rolled it out companywide. The results? 104 fewer black bin bags from the canteen alone every year. That’s a whole lot less landfill and a whole lot more recycling to ensure we’re playing our part.
Where Does It All Go?
Everything we recycle goes to our recycling partners, who we ensure are local to our facility in Birmingham, where ‘waste’ gets a new lease on life. And the small amount of general waste we do have? That’s taken away by responsible waste collection, but we’re working hard to make the amount even smaller.
The Future is Green
Our goal? Keep growing, keep recycling, and keep reducing landfill waste. Every little effort counts, and we’re committed to making a difference.
So, next time you toss something in one of our bins, know that you’re helping us turn trash into treasure.
