Royal Mail in Plymouth Present £9,000 To Local Charities

Royal Mail staff have presented cheques totalling £9,000 to a host of local charities.

Postal workers across Plymouth have been working together for more than 25 years raising money for local charities through their fundraising activities.

Staff from the sites in Pennycomequick, Plymstock and other outlying offices donate weekly through their wages, as well as organising events for their nominated charities.

More than £9,000 has been raised in the past year with various sums being donated to St Luke’s Hospice, Hugs for Henry, Plymouth Domestic Abuse Service, Woodside Animal Sanctuary and The Monkey Sanctuary.
Chairman of Royal Mail’s local fundraising group, Jeff Maddison, said “The generosity of our staff never ceases to impress.

“In addition to the many that donate direct from pay, events take place throughout the year to raise even more money and to ensure our staff have a good time while doing so.
“We are delighted to be able to hand over £9,000 this year to local causes.

Jeff added “In addition to the core fundraising for local causes, our staff also support national charities such as Children In Need and Prostate Cancer UK which is Royal Mail’s nationally supported charity.”
